some people still can get their mind around quicksilver [1]. funnily enough i’ve been using this magnificent piece of code since pretty much exactly three years . it’s really hard to explain to someone who just scratched the surface of it, it’s a launcher, hotkey-listener , file-mangler, email-preparer, copy-paste-helper, history-catcher, address-book-search-engine and much, much more. A1c0r, the developer of quicksilver recently made a talk about the inner workings of his software at google [2]. so if you still need a push, then watch the video below in it’s full length, it’s very worth it.

the ted-talks are always a good source for inspiration and sometimes are just pure eyecandy and droolworthy innovations. i’ve added them to my democracy-player but seldom take my time to watch all of them. the demo of photosynth and seadragon by Blaise Aguera y Arcas from microsoft research is amazing. now this should be combined with jeff hans multi-touch interface , and i’ll never leave my desk again… sometimes even microsoft manages to do impressive stuff!

das tagi magazin hat neuerdings einen überarbeiteten webauftritt. das ganze:

dies soll helfen, bessere beiträge zu publizieren, indem der onlineauftritt eine schnittstelle zwischen lesenden und schreibenden sein soll. momentan noch eine kleine baustelle , aber auf alle fälle ein sehr spannender ansatz. mich nimmts wunder, ob da einfach das lektorat an das wiki-publikum ausgelagert werden soll oder ob wirklich eine diskussionsplattform entsteht. oder entseht da ein neues citizen journalism-heft und die ganze redaktion widmet sich nur noch der pflege der wiki-einträge? auf jeden fall eine spannende angelegenheit, die es zu beobachten gilt, auch wenn noch wenig leser gleichzeitig online sind (man beachte beiliegendes bild :-)

also schlussendlich hab’ ichs in 1:12.03 geschafft. und nun nehm ich mir fest vor, nächstes jahr mehr als 2 mal joggen zu gehen vor dem GP! ps: nimmt mich wunder, wie’s christian gelaufen ist.

update: christian hat den lauf erfolgreich beendet, gratuliere! und ich bin das ding eindeutig zu schnell angegangen, wenn mensch meine zwischenzeiten anguckt: nach 5 kilometer noch unter 4min/km und ab dann schon ziemlich drüber. für nächstes jahr brauche ich glaubich auch so ein lauf-unterstützendes gadget …

i has got me a new mobile phone . it is supposed to be able to do video calls via UMTS. the person in the sunrise-shop that sold me the phone told me that it is possible to make videocalls between all the swiss providers, but contrary to that it doesn’t work. i know three people with an UMTS-video-enabled mobile phone, and none of them is provided by sunrise. any of my readers want to ring me up, so i can try a video call? my number can be found on tel.search.ch . just search for my surname (haberthür) and the profession “rockstar” (really!) and give me a ring, so we can try seeing each other!

there has been a whoopsie with some of their download-servers, so you might want to make shure, you’re upgrading to the newest version (2.1.2, as we speak). as always, it’s trouble-free. just upload everything to your server and visit yourserver/wp-admin/upgrade.php and you’re set.
