yesterday the swiss cycle messenger championships 2006
were held in zürich, in the middle of the city
.
it was really a blast! mostly because there were loads of spectators, the weather was super-nice, it was fun to meet other messengers in switzerland (i guess around 120 of ’em were there), but also, because i’m now officially the fourth-best messenger in switzerland[1], just a bit short after triple faiss and a wee bit faster than dom (both from lausanne ).

raph/dom/blaize , this one is for you [1]:
‘cause i always forget to check back at the bike-p0rn-site fixedgeargallery and actually never want to miss a great bike there i created an rss-feed of the site with feedyes.com .
so if you’d like to be notified of an update on that fabulous site, then add this feed here (see comments below!) to your preferred news-reader and get your daily fix (it doesn’t get the individual sites of the bikes, but at least you get all the updates…)

over at the makezine phil torrone links to a “device
” which solves the hassle of pumping up a flat tire through a parasitic device.
would be perfect for work, but i guess you’d have even more angry car-drivers around, since it uses “conveniently available pressurized air stored in automobiles.”

sometimes later in the afternoon at work i wish for something like this . a rocket bike with a rather impressive acceleration, from 0 to 96 km/h in five (!!!) seconds.
the bike where the rocket is bolted on looks a bit goofy, but i guess you could improve that easily…
now i just want to see a video of it in action!

sometimes at noon we need to take a break.
this might look like this, when you just simply crash out on the sofa:
or it might look like this, when you need a hug from their [1] siegfried&roy-tiger:
[1] we share our headquarters with theirs…

someone [1] is organizing a critical mass in bern at the 6th of december. if you’d like to take part, come and show up on the bundesplatz at 18:00. i’ll be there , and hopefully a lot of others too (do you remember the critical mass after the suicmc04? it was so great!)
We aren’t blocking traffic; we are traffic.
[1] that’s the thing: no one really knows who did it, so no one can be blamed for it.

i’ve been experimenting with panoramas quite a bit lately [1]. and with huginosx it’s really easy to align ramarkably good panoramas even with handheld pictures, like i’ve done it in the one below.
this wednesday the ja! [2] made a bike demonstration in bern. they wanted to protest against the newest plans to slash the free bike-parking around the main station here in bern . because of the thunderstorm that just started minutes after the demonstration was about to begin there were not too many people. i tried to document that with that panorama, which makes the waisenhausplatz look quite empty with that little bunch of protesters on it…

this week was really busy, i was giving computer science lessons in kirchberg while still working nearly normally.
luckily i was rewarded with the nicest afternoon at work during this week full of snow , so i only biked privately in the snow.
the picture below is from one evening, coming home. riding fast even with a lot of snow on the street.

here’s the flyer to the suicmc04 here in bern. if all goes well, the flyer should be in the 20minuten tomorrow. and if you’re a listener to radiobe1 , then you might be able to catch the ad they’re airing for us (or you can just click here and listen to the spot online (543kb .mp3-file) :-)
for more info go to suicmc04.ch
and if you’re looking at a search on my preferred telephone-number-finder tel.search.ch , then you might be able to spot a banner which links to the suicmc04 homepage (thanks to b. and RIM )
