The US Code Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8 (g) says:

The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

But George W. Bush – who’s been pushing through laws that would institute stiff penalties for defacing the flag – has been doing that himself… At a recent speech to defense contractors (his biggest contributors), he was handing out signed American flags (link to the AP photo ):

Yeah, well, what else is there to say?
